On her play, Life: Meaning Us - "Simple, sincere, humane, and moving, this is a super piece of work with a human heart beat sat underneath. At times Melanie’s writing has a delicacy and honesty that is breathtaking" - John Donnelly, Playwright.
Melanie is a freelance writer for the stage and screen, currently working in County Durham and London.
As well as writing for dramatic performance, Melanie has many years of experience in writing for corporate and promotional film for a wide range of businesses, schemes and charities across the UK.
Her portfolio in drama and comedy is continually being developed. Since 2009 two of Melanie’s short films have been produced independently, and in 2011, her stage production, Life: Meaning Us was performed throughout a six night run as part of the DYS-PLA festival in Camden.
In 2013, her short play, A Little While Longer was produced as part of London Grey & Green's City Slices and Country Crumbs at The Hen & Chickens Theatre, Highbury.
While Melanie’s exploration of comedy lies within ramblings of the surreal and awkward, her dramatic writing style is one of exploring the nuances of human behaviour through emotive narrative, and characterisation reflective of the real world.
Following her recent completion of an MA in writing for the stage and broadcast media at Central School of Speech & Drama, London – Melanie is currently collaborating on various projects in television, film and theatre, and is pursuing agency representation.
